Welcome to Nourishing Dietetics
At Nourishing Dietetics we specialise in providing care for people with eating disorders, disordered eating and healing relationships with food. We work with people referred under Eating Disorder Care Plans, Chronic Disease Management Plans, Private clients and those with NDIS support. Our values underpin everything we do and guide how we provide support. Below we have listed the usual working days of our Dietitians, thier capacity for new referrals and a little about them.
Jonathon
Jonathon is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist who graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Griffith University on the Gold Coast. Jonathon loves supporting people with finding their strength and empowering them to lead their happiest lives.
With a peak interest in the areas of mental health, eating disorders and gut health conditions Jonathon’s passion for helping people comes from a powerful behaviour change approach and motivational interviewing style. His determination for supporting people to maintain a positive relationship with food is driven by fostering a safe space for healing and re-connecting with food, mind and body.
Through his work so far, Jonathon has strived to provide care with compassion and understanding. His aim has been to empower clients to actively be involved in their healthcare, working in alignment with them as well as their healthcare team.
In his spare time Jonathon loves to mountain bike ride and surf up and down the coast. He also loves to use his creative mind to tinker and build.
Jonathon is available for any Eating Disorder Diagnosis and is trained in Paediatrics. He is available for all ages and has a wait time of approximately 2 weeks for an Initial Appointment.
Sophie
Sophie is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, graduating from Griffith University on the Gold Coast. Her goal is to create a comfortable and supportive environment for her patients. Sophie believes in creating realistic, long-term, and enjoyable nutrition strategies for improving health.
Sophie is passionate about all things nutrition, and can provide nutrition support in many areas. This may include (but is not limited to): Chronic Health Management, Nutrition for Ageing, Diabetes, Heart Disease (e.g. hypertension, hypercholesterolemia), Women’s health (e.g. PCOS, menopause), Gastrointestinal issues (IBS, diverticulitis, reflux), Food allergies and intolerances, and Weight management. Sophie is also interested in Eating Disorders and disordered eating, and is currently working towards her credential.
In her spare time, you may find Sophie kicking a football, going for a walk, baking something for dessert, or playing The Sims.
Sophie is available for all Eating Disorder Diagnosis aged 17 and up. Sophie is also available for nutrition advice for Womens Health Issues, Digestive Concerns and general health.
Tamara
Tamara believes strongly in the bond between physical and mental health and has completed additional training in DBT for Dietitians, CBT-e, Evidence Based Dietetic Treatment for Eating Disorders and additional University study on 'adult learning'. Her approach is driven by compassion, empathy and hope and she works with your healthcare and personal teams to support you in your recovery goals, whatever they may be.
With experience in many areas of nutrition and dietetics provided by her time working within both acute, community health and Private sectors Tamara is able to assist in a wide range of areas. She also provides individual and group supervision for Dietitians working in the Eating Disorder space.
Her specialty is in the management of Eating Disorders during pregnancy and post-partum and she in undertaking research in this area as well as speaking at conferences to help upskill other Dietitians.
Tamara has closed her books to new referrals again as of mid-July 2023, after opening them for a brief period of time in May/June. We do apologise if you had hoped to see Tamara but are unable to now. It is not anticipated that Tamara will re-open her books to new clients for the foreseeable future due to upcoming Maternity Leave and we are not keeping a wait list for this reason.
